Major Earnings Headlines

Nvidia ($NVDA) just reported earnings, posting numbers of

• EPS of $1.32 beating expectations of $1.22

• Rev of $7.64B beating expectations of $7.42B

• Gross Margin of 67% missing expectations of 67.1%

By segment:

• Gaming revenue: $3.42B up 37% YoY 

• Data center revenue: $3.26B up 71% YoY

• Automotive and Robotics revenue: $125M down 14% YoY

Forward guidance: Nvidia said next quarter it sees Q1 revenue coming in at $8.1 billion (+/- 2%) vs. estimates of $7.29 billion.

Palantir ($PLTR) reported earnings, posting numbers of:

• EPS of $0.02, missing expectations of $0.04

• Rev of $432.9M, beating expectations of $417.69M

Palantir $PLTR brought in $1.54 Billion of Revenue in 2021 up 41% YoY

Why Palantir is down

Roblox ($RBLX) just reported earnings, posting numbers of:

• EPS of -$0.25, missing expectations of -$0.14

• Rev of $770.1M, beating expectations of $763.3M

Q4 key metrics:

• Average Daily Active Users of 49.5M up 33% YoY

• Hours Engaged were 10.8B up 28% YoY

• Average Bookings per DAU was $15.57

Walmart ($WMT) reported earnings, posting numbers of:v

• EPS of $1.53, beating expectations of $1.5

• Rev of $152.87B beating expectations of $151.67B

Walmart also said it plans to repurchase at least $10B worth of $WMT stock in FY23.

Airbnb ($ABNB) reported earnings, posting numbers of:

• EPS of $0.08, beating expectations of -$0.03

• Rev of $1.53B beating expectations of $1.46B

Monday:

• Berkshire Hathaway bought 14.7M shares of Activision Blizzard last quarter, acquiring the majority of the position in October - WSJ 

• New York saw almost $2B worth of bets placed using mobile sportsbooks in its first 30 days of being legal with the state collecting more than $70M in taxes - NYS 

• Tesla announced all its Supercharging stations in the Netherlands will now be useable by non-Tesla electric cars - Electrek 

• Coinbase said it had over 20 Million hits in 1 minute on its website from their Super Bowl commercial - Coinbase Blog 

• AMD announced it officially completed its acquisition of Xilinx - AMD

Tuesday:

• ViacomCBS announced it would be changing the company’s name to Paramount Global along with a ticker change to $PARA - CBS 

• This year's Super Bowl had an average of 112.3M people watching the game at any given time making it the most watched show in the last 5 years - NFL 

• Elon Musk owns 21.2% of Tesla as of December 31st - Teslarati

Wednesday:

• Nvidia is partnering with Jaguar Land Rover for the carmaker to use Nvidia's DRIVE Hyperion 8 platform for future vehicles according to Electrek 

• AMD announced today the expansion of Amazon Web Services AMD EPYC processor-based offerings with the general availability of Amazon's EC2 C6a instances - Globenewswire 

• Disney is developing planned communities for residential living. “Storyliving by Disney” will operate as part of the theme parks division and develop planned communities for residential living “offering the same pampered tranquility found in its resorts” - The Verge

Thursday:

• Direxion has filed for 3 new ETFs, a Inverse Tesla ETF, a 2x Inverse Tesla ETF, and a 2x Tesla Bull ETF - SeekingAlpha 

• President Biden is expected to issue an executive order next week directing agencies across the government to study cryptocurrencies and a central bank digital currency (CBDC), and come up with a government-wide strategy to regulate digital assets - Yahoo Finance 

• Amazon and Visa announced a new agreement for Amazon to accept Visa’s cards across its global network resolving the previous dispute the companies had about fees - CNBC

Friday:

• The FED's new rules ban FED officials from holding Cryptocurrency, stocks, sector funds, foreign currency, short selling and more - CNBC 

• Chamath Palihapitiya is leaving Virgin Galactic’s board of directors - WSJ
